About

My Story

I was born and raised in Suffolk, where my grandparents sparked my love for farming and the countryside. Their traditional way of life was both appealing and comforting. I spent hours watching my grandpop tending to his allotments while my nan shelled peas in the summer sun. My mum and nan would take me and my five brothers on long walks, which as kids felt endless. We wandered along the local river, leading to a dairy farm, and it was there that my deep passion for agriculture was born. I loved watching the changing seasons, observing wildlife, and immersing myself in nature’s fascinating cycle.Later, I met my husband, a farmer, and together we had four children who shared our love for farm life. Our farm was mainly arable, but we kept pet pigs, hens, and ponies, and eventually started our own herd of cattle. I loved the cattle—their individual personalities, their smell, and the nostalgic memories they evoked. After over 20 years raising my family in Suffolk, life took an unexpected turn. Through life's twists and turns, we discovered the Outer Hebrides. My first glimpse of the islands was mesmerizing—an instant love story began. I was captivated by the wild, diverse landscapes: rugged coastlines, endless moors, and crofts bursting with sheep and cattle. The ever-changing elements and the evolving nature of the islands inspired me deeply. Waves and the wild coastline became particular favourites in my design, and this inspiration flows through my work.We eventually moved to the Isle of Lewis, and my love for jewellery-making blossomed. As an adult with Asperger’s, finding my place in the world has been a journey. I was fortunate to meet Christina MacKenzie, a highly skilled and renowned goldsmith. Under her guidance, I quickly developed my skills, immersing myself in the craft of high-quality jewellery making. Transforming raw materials into stunning keepsakes became my passion. The process was incredibly therapeutic, and my love for designing and producing jewellery grew naturally.Winning the Natural Retreats Lews Castle jewellery competition was a proud moment, followed by gaining experience with other goldsmiths and silversmiths. Over time, I was encouraged to start my own business—**Wild Isle Jewellery** was born. I love reflecting the natural world in my pieces, which I make entirely by hand using traditional techniques. Everything is crafted here in my little workshop on the Outer Hebridean island of Lewis—each piece, from the inspiration to the design, to the making and packaging, is my own. My work is legally hallmarked in Edinburgh, and I take pride in finishing each piece to a high professional standard.Situated in a quiet village on the northeast coast of Lewis, my workshop is surrounded by stunning beaches, rolling moors, and busy crofts—an endless source of inspiration. The natural beauty of the landscape, combined with my unique outlook as someone with Asperger’s, results in beautiful pieces that tell a story—treasured keepsakes crafted with longevity in mind. Each piece is bespoke, one-of-a-kind, handmade with love, dedication, and care.My workshop is nestled beside my home, with sea views, a wood burner, and a loyal Collie loon and an elderly dachshund snuggled in his basket under my bench. Here, surrounded by nature’s beauty and the comforting presence of my pets.
